Four Points Flex by Sheraton Essen

- no fridge - no kettle - breakfast was very disappointing. 18€ per person is very expensive for what you get there.

I was so unlucky and found a bug in the room. So I had to unpack everything outside when I got back home to avoid getting the potential bugs. :(

so... i went to work and when i came back 3 bags of italian specialty coffee (i brought as a gift) were stolen from my room. also, my cookie (single packed chinese fortune cookie) was eaten and the wrap thrown in the garbage. when i told the receptionist, she wrote on a tiny post-it "204, 3 coffee bags" and said the hotel will write me. nothing more. no surprise, no apology. it seemed all too normal.

the room was not cleaned. some hotel employee just decided to steal whatever s/he can.

let's see if the hotel will make it right. if they do, i'll delete this review.

the positive is my son laughed his head off when i told him about the theft, especially about the cookie.

Nice enough rooms and hotel. Breakfast included. Friendly staff with bar that stays open late. Super close to Essen HBF station. Lots of construction works close by on main road by hotel entrance

Great hotel. My wife and I had a great stay. We were greeted very friendly and the receptionist was very helpful. She was super friendly to us. The rooms were very nice and clean. The breakfast was very satisfying. As a newly married couple, we felt very comfortable, and the service was great. I would have one flaw, unfortunately there are no harder pillows. The receptionist was so nice and gave me an extra pillow.

Me and my dad just stayed here during the euros. Absolutely amazing hotel. Clean rooms and showering facilities were above and beyond. Reception staff were so helpful always on hand for information and extra towels and pillows etc.

The bar tender Antonio was an exceptional worker and should be commended for his work ethics and service. Nothing was too much. He worked great under pressure when the bar was busy and still gave everyone an outstanding service.

Highly recommend staying here if your visiting germany it is 10 minutes from the train station and the massive square which has loads of bars and restaurants.

Spent 4 nights here and would recommend it to anyone looking for a clean place to stay. Many would say this hotel is near the station but small sized me with my big luggage on a rainy afternoon still found it quite a struggle to get to!

Hotel staff are friendly and welcoming, and made my stay pleasant. Room was clean I constantly needed hot water to drink and the staff helped me to fill my flask up at the reception. Eventually on the second day I was given a kettle to take to my room and that made things much easier. Breakfast was lovely and tables are aplenty even on busy mornings. Limited parking available at €12 per night, we made sure we were back early to secure a spot.

Although it’s clean and neat the room is extremely cold! They offer one light blanket to cover up meanwhile outside is 1° Celsius and we are freezing! The AC is central and you can not heat the room according to your need! Scandalous

Good service, nice and clean hotel. Expensive parking, which isn't included. Trains passing by isn't a + except if you are traveling by one of them. 😉

The room is nice and clean, The air conditioning and heating system is excellent, the bed is wide and not high, there is no water kettle for tea, check out of the hotel at 11! They did not alert us to that, and they open the door of the room on you while you are in it! If you enter the breakfast buffet a little before closing, the staff will wait for you to finish your food while looking into your eyes, alerting you to the remaining time and rushing you to eat!! Or they will ask you to take your plate and eat at the hotel entrance!! Unprofessional behavior from the restaurant staff. In the end, I am a customer and I want to eat in peace. I paid for breakfast and I do not deserve to see your upset features or your complaining about my late arrival.. The staff can eat while I am there and I will not ask them for any service other than leaving me alone!! Very annoying ....

Stayed here for one night for a concert. It was clean, quiet, had good AC and is a short walk to the main Essen train station, so ticked all of the boxes.

I have removed one star because we asked the hotel to arrange two taxis for my friend and I who were heading to separate airports. In both cases, the price estimate given by the hotel was significantly lower (by about 40%) than what the taxis ultimately asked us to pay. Given we were travelling to airports and in neither case hit any discernible traffic, this was very frustrating. It was also 40% higher than the taxi fare for the exact same journey the day before (when we did hit traffic!). Either the hotel is not being realistic in its price estimates or the taxi firm they are using is taking advantage of customers, in which case the hotel needs to reevaluate who it is sending its customers to.

The room space it was good, and bathroom clean and big. No very good stuff. No coffee or tea in room.

Room are decent and people are nice, but €18 for breakfast that have little choice of €7 for a bottle of water is a bit much. Also right now (2024) it’s construction right outside, so if you need want to nap during the afternoon, it’s a bit annoying.

Staff was courteous and friendly, rooms were clean. Breakfast area clean and food was nice. Location, though... haha. Well, let's just say I woke up quite a few times from the train noises.

Room is very compact. There is no kettle in the business room. It is a basic room and a good location about 10 minutes walk to the city center. Staff members are very helpful. The room price is very reasonable.

Good service, small reception bar area which was full most of the time, we took our drinks to the breakfast area. Good breakfast. They were over capacity due to the Christmas markets when we went, I suspect it's much more peaceful the rest of the year.

If you're from the UK and familiar with premier inn, this is similar (although a bit better as the heating/cooling actually works). Breakfast is in the hotel on the ground floor, with an excellent selection of food.

Walking distance from main station and city centre. Spacious and clean rooms. Staff is very helpful. We wanted to extend our stay which they agreed immediately. Wide Spread in breakfast. Delicious food in the resturant. Paid parking area. Bar 24 hours. We stayed twice and both the times our experience was best and yes Free WiFi

Rooms are nice and clean, and the walls are thick enough that you don't get bothered by other people.

The breakfast was good, but the dinner menu was amazing! It took some time to arrive, but was really worth the wait.

Solid mid-range hotel in Essen. Stayed here for business for three nights and had slightly mixed experience. Room was new and generally in good shape. Bed was comfortable and clean.

Had an incident where during the first night the heat turned off (and it was one of the nights were the temperature was -5 outside) so I woke up at 4am with the room extremely cold. Took the other comforter from the other bed and made it to 6 when I complained. Hotel sent service up to the room that day to fix it later in the day and did and it worked for the remainder of the trip. No apology or anything though. Breakfast was ok but started too late (7am? That's an hour too late).

Would stay here again for the right price. Convenient to the central train station which was great. No parking on site. Pictures here are a good representation of what you get.

For everyone who’s travelling with pets… on app booking.com hotel is filtered as pet friendly however… it’s not true. I’ve just booked a room for us and our cat and I’ve sent a message to a hotel that we’ll be travelling with our cat. And unfortunately I’ve been told that we’re not allowed to as the hotel is pet free :) be careful if you’re travelling with your pet as you might spend a night in your car :)

Clean and tidy, reasonably well appointed rooms. Breakfast at €12 is plentiful and varied. Don't try to pay by contactless debit card though, it works fine but the staff don't understand it and you end up standing for 20 minutes until somebody capable of making decisions arrives.

Really nice hotel. I asked if we could pay for parking up front and then come and go as we wanted but the person on the reception desk said this was not possible. I asked another member of the staff the next morning and she said it was no problem and did it for me!

Room was comfy and had nice cold AC, shower had enough pressure to wash the mud off a 4x4 and the breakfast was enjoyable.

The only problem I had was that I kept wondering if it was pronounced G...Hotel, or if you should instead say Gho...tel, but with a silent H, like GOtel. Sometimes I wonder if I think about things too much?

The room was nice and the breakfast was good. Sadly, parts of the staff was unfriendly and cocky. Also, we were there visiting SPIEL21 and Ghotel told us that they had a game room for us to play in every evening. Sadly they chose to charge 8€ per person and evening for using it. Even though we could ”buy” drinks for the 8€ it felt forced and unwelcoming. When we told the staff that we thought the fee was contraproductive (we would surely spend more than 8€ each if using the gameroom was free but now we deliberately chose not to), they reacted in a very defensive and unfriendly way. No Ghotel, you are certainly ”not the other hotels” as your receptionist dismissively told us when we expressed our feelings while checking out. Will choose another place to stay during SPIEL22.

Very disappointed. We were with dog. Room was clean and housekeeping is doing their job. I'm finding strange that we couldn't get any coffee or tea in room because there was no water cooker or instant coffee. No fridge even to store your cold drink. At breakfast we wasn't able to come to restaurant even that we paid for dog. We ask before at reception if we are able to go they inform us that we can't but they can set for us at the bar. So we came and they said to leave our dog in room if possible, because they are not enough people they can't set up for us the table. Is it my problem? I'm paying for that.if you don't have stuff mean hotel its not prepared. No coffee no juices no cutlery at actual breakfast. Very disappointed and for sure won't stay there anymore.

Great stay. New hotel that offers a bit more than the 3 starts it's awarded. Breakfast is served in a pretty big variety and the staff is very nice. It within walking distance from the main train station and the city center.

Nice location. Nice staff, all employers was friendly and very nice. Unfortunately, it doesn't have a fridge in the room, so if you need to store baby food, it doesn't have where.

This place is nice, the room was spacious and calm at night. The only thing maybe is that the 2 single bed room isn't a 2 single bed room. It's just a formal bed for 2 people, with no separation between.

Open since 2017, all very neat and tidy. Wide variety of breakfast meals. Staff very friendly. Close to the town centre with a large shopping mall. The restaurant at the hotel has reasonable priced meals of excellent quality.

Decent service and good food, however the rooms have very very small beds. :(

Reply to GHOTEL below: I asked for the Double Beds - front desk all said they have no other bed sizes in hotel. They said everything is same bed size. :(

Worked out very good short walk to town for dinner & train station ,great breakfast allclean & tidy

New hotel. Large comfortable rooms, very clean with a good restaurant at fair prices. Location is close to the centre. I can find no faults with this hotel and it certainly exceeds its three star rating.

Clean, nice furnishings, friendly and helpful staff. Restaurant food delicious. I have stayed in 5 other hotels in Essen this year and this has been the best. Also good value

Nice rooms, good breakfast and great service. Had some vegetarian alternatives for breakfast. The bartender of the lounge bar was friendly and knowledgable. Will stay there again

Location was horrible and the service was in unsatisfactory and confusing. They charged us for a extra room with a 10 percent refund . Surrounding area was rough at best. Do not go here.

It is not bad but it is on par with ibis hotel (80-90 eur) but according to price, it is on par with Sharaton (250 Eur!!!! just bed and breakfast, even there is no gym)

Really nice hotel, very pleasant stay and the personal was very professional during the busy weekend in the December period when everybody comes to Germany for Xmas market :-D great credits to the personal lead Meik... remained calm and helpful!

Rooms was clean had TV .food was excellent had a lot of choice. Good location to shops .staff was helpful .I found there was no games room . some people like to play pool (billards)

No Wi-Fi signal in rooms, had to use the lobby each time I needed WiFi.

Good place to stay and visit Essen.

No fridge and no window that you can open to get a bit of fresh air. I was told it was because of traffic noise, unfortunately I could still hear it all the time.
