Medi Therme Bochum

I honestly don’t understand the negative reviews complaining about the cost. For what Meditherme offers, the pricing is more than fair. The facilities are clean, beautifully designed, and incredibly relaxing.

This was one of the highlights of my time in Germany, and I truly hope to return someday. Bochum is wonderful, and Meditherme is absolutely worth visiting.

Spa Review

The spa accepts credit card payments. As with most spas in Germany, there is a strict nudity policy for using the facilities. This may come as a cultural shock to visitors unfamiliar with German customs, but it is a common practice in these settings. Guests typically move around the spa wearing only a towel or a bathrobe.

Useful Tips for Your Visit

1. What to Bring: • Flip-flops. • A bathrobe. • An additional towel. Bring oils to breath on the saunas not provided

2. What They Provide: • Hairdryers are available. • They do not provide soap in the shower dispensers, so you’ll need to bring your own. 3. Entry and Pricing: • There are two types of entry: • 4 hours: Approximately 40 euros. • Full day: Higher cost, depending on the spa. • Upon entry, you will receive an electronic wristband that serves as your locker key and tracks your purchases (such as food, drinks, or treatments). These additional charges are settled when you leave.

Facilities and Atmosphere

The spa offers a wide variety of services, including: • Pools. • Saunas. • Restaurants. • Massage rooms. • Relaxation areas with bioethanol fireplaces, waterbeds, and silent rooms equipped with loungers.

The decor is inspired by an Arabic hammam style, although it does not authentically represent that tradition.

Changing Rooms and Nudity Policy

The changing rooms are not separated by gender. After changing, you will exit the lockers nude and move directly to the facilities. This may be surprising to visitors from other cultures, but the environment is respectful and comfortable.

Overall Atmosphere

The spa is a pleasant, serene place, ideal for relaxation. Despite cultural differences, such as the nudity policy or the unisex changing areas, the experience is both enjoyable and rejuvenating.

Really enjoy visiting this Therme when in the Bochum / Dusseldorf area. Friendly staff and a very relaxed atmosphere. It has a great range of saunas, steam rooms, pools, indoor and outdoor relaxation areas. The restaraunt / bar has a good range of food & drinks which are generally reasonably priced for a therme.

Bad service , too expensive , overcrowded& not season ready - heaps of air for better performance. Even clarification with responsible lady unsuccessfully..probably never again ….

Meditherme has a huge sauna landscape which is pretty to walk through and many saunas but the mood is not on the same level as Mediterrana. The pools are situated very publicly so that people can watch, and not like a little hidden water oasis like in other saunas. It’s not such a big deal, but strange that the “panorama Sauna” is seemingly intended for people to stare at the bathers. We got a massage, and were instructed to go to the waiting room where “absolute Ruhe” is written on the door. The room was so loud from staff cutting through to get to other parts of the facility which was absurd. Then the massage therapists seemed competent however they spoke to us like old people who can’t hear when the environment should be relaxing and quiet. They seemed uncomfortable and stared at us as we undressed and as we dressed which was not relaxing. at the beginning of the massage they actually tried to work out the tension but it was clear that they gave up on that eventually for reasons I do not know. After that it just felt like she was rubbing oil into my skin, and less like a massage. Very disappointing for the price.

I was extremely disappointed in the staff for the gym. I had rolled my ankle badly in the downstairs weights room and when I came to ask for an ice pack distressed and half crying they gave me a fridge cold pack and did not ask me once is I was okay or what had happened. There was no sincere concern where I could actually sue if I wanted, no incident report filled out, 3/4 of them watching me limp away to lay myself down and put my badly injured ankle up.

They made me go under the barrier to get out also, the man with the ginger beard and hair I found to be very cold and not a very good member support employees.

Very very disappointing, the one who seemed to be the manager also I was not impressed. The members of the gym care more for me than the staff.

The gym was great and clean but the 2nd star id make a 1/2 star if I could for the staff

Very nice wellness-spa area where you can find peace and spend a nice day with many facilities. For foreign people, be aware is a nudist area.

This is a fantastic Spa. The restaurant offers a great variety. The relax rooms are peaceful. The two whirlpools are great and convenient to get to amongst all of the sauna options. The locker facilities are nice. Lots of parking available too. They have many offerings of Aufguss so you can always find one if you'd like. Sorry no photos since it's textile free.

Nice spa with plenty of room for a lot of people. However, there could be some improvements. There is no shampoo or shower gel in the showers. This is not really a difficult thing to provide and all the spas I've been to in and outside of Germany provides this for their customers. The quality of the toilet paper in the restrooms was awful. It's these small details that levels up the experience. The restaurant and the massage we booked were also okay. Overall, good experience, just a few small touches needed.

It is a nice place with many small corners, path etc. , only no map for orientation or a summery of all the different nice things. At the very end, just by accident we fount a huge nice resting place. We critized before that there was just one. Perhaps there have been even more. Also finding toilets was a long search... When I asked for the map they said they have non on purpose to let the guest have some adventure. Actually I came to relax. For edventure I go to other places. But what we saw was otherwise nice.

Amazing spa and sauna place. Loads of different types of saunas and plenty of loungers. Also every 30min different saunas have different things going so that's certainly worth experiencing. One downside is you can only pay by EC card so bring cash, as none of the usual cards are accepted. Also they don't do one day gym passes, only a yearly contract which seems absurd considering how big the place is.

Great place with a big variety of saunas: from chill 45 Celsius to Sahara 100 Celsius one. In addition swimming pools, jacuzzi, relax zones. Restaurant is located within the area, so you can have a lunch inbetween sauna sessions. Keep in mind it's textile free spa therefore no swimming suits allows. In sauna naked or towel covered, in the pools naked and bathrobe required in restaurant.

Slightly expensive, and certain saunas not available during the day/afternoon, otherwise a good selection of saunas with periodic aufguss. Apparently the Massage is to die for according to my wife😑. Worth the money if you want to indulge yourself or for a little treat.

Rude at the reception and person cannot count to 4. For 4 hours of stay, two people were counted as a whole day. And when asked why yes, to return the money "You come next time, we will somehow deduct these money." They are not interested in the fact that you are perhaps only passing through, etc.

Otherwise, all saunas and pools were working.

Pros: super services, saunas all kind, outside, inside, Nordic, Mediterranean, different level of temperature. Really very professional people there. Also if don't speak German they're going to be able to explain everything COMS: NO CREDIT CARD ACCEPTED

Great place to go and unwind and relax. Between the whirlpool spa's the swimming pools and the sauna you will can spend the whole day there. I highly recommend it. One thing clothing is NOT optional. Except for their restaurant.

If you go with textile free than you should definitely go with it transparently and mentioned it on your website in clear way. It’s far away from anywhere and then you come to find out that you can’t be there in swim suit. What kind of customer service is this ? Shouldn’t customer satisfaction be on the first place 😤?

As an American I was a bit uncomfortable being here at first. After a few minutes that went away, and I really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. I loved that there are so many different sauna choices.

They force you to be naked. I wouldnt mind if it was a choice but I guess be aware for all people wanted to visit. Place itself disappointingly small for the amount of money they want you to pay

This place helped me to survive during rainy weather in long weekend. We spend there many hours moving between different saunas, pools, bar and restaurant.

The best thing about it is that all areas are FKK so you get some nice eye candy 😉 It also means no annoying kids around.

Actually we didnt go inside.. for some reason, one is only allowed to swin in the swimpools naked.. the sauna i would understand.. but in the swimmingpools also 🤷‍♂️

Very nice and friendly location, great saunas, food not too expensive, overall a great place to have a relaxing day.

Nice place. Not too spectacular but the good thing is that normally it's not as crowded as many other places.

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE! We traveled really long to get there just to find out that it's a strickly textile-free facility. This is not mentioned clearly anyway on the website. A total waste of time.
